Eyecare retailer MoodOptic was founded as a brick and mortar business in Viseu, Portugal in July 2006 and at the time, employed just two members of staff. The company sold contact lenses from market leading manufacturers to customers for a fraction of the price, compared with other high street stores.
The team recognised that the dynamic ecommerce industry was fast-approaching the Iberian market, and with it, a growing demand to be able to buy all eye products at more affordable prices online. MoodOptic made it their mission to be the biggest multichannel eyewear business grown out of Iberia.
MoodOptic moved online and was soon selling thousands of contact lenses to customers worldwide. In fact, in the last three years, the business has been growing substantially at 300% year on year.
The business now employs local country teams, enabling closer customer contact, and not only sells contact lenses but thousands of glasses and sunglasses worldwide. It successfully blends fast-moving everyday items together with its very own brand of handmade frames, made in Portugal.
Nuno Cabral, CEO at MoodOptic comments, “We continue to strive to be the go-to online eyewear provider in the Iberian market. In terms of next steps, we are working hard to grow our product range even further, develop new and exciting technology and hire dedicated teams in more territories, to provide our customers with an even greater customer service experience.”
